Early Access, AKA Game Launch begins! My Thoughts.

[News] Early Access, AKA Game Launch begins! My Thoughts.

Greetings Fellow Hyborians new and old. The gates to Hyboria have finally been cracked open a bit allowing the first wave of people to sneak in before the masses awaiting outside. I pain particular attention to how the people rushed in, how the city of Tortage held up to this influx of new refugees and I am forced to say.. WOW (As in overly impressive, not to be confused with that other game out there).

Aside from starting a few hours later than initially anticipated, the process went incredibly smooth. No crashed, no servers up and down, no hitching, and probably the best point being that without all the beta server loggers and debuggers running the game was very smooth and I am set on High everything basically.

There is one BIG problem, but it wasn't related to the game being functional at launch or not, it was more of a planning blunder for sales and distribution. Apparently Funcom sold too many Early Access passes and many who expected to get in were not allowed since the servers were not setup for that many people. Needless to say many an angry person out there. It is a ahame that this distribution problem occured and tarnished what may have been the smoothest launch of an MMO ever.

Great job Funcom on almost everything, bad job on the blunder with the early access keys though since everything else thus far that I have seen in Age of Conan was great!.
